Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The 220,500-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Schwedt PCK Refinery, owned and operated by Ruhr Oel GmbH (37.5%) (Bochum, Germany), Shell Deutschland Oil GmbH (37.5%) (Hamburg, Germany), and AET-Raffineriebeteiligungs GmbH 25% (Schwedt, Germany), will undergo a planned maintenance shutdown in the second quarter of 2010.
Schwedt PCK Refinery is located in the city of Schwedt, in the state of Brandenburg in Germany. The plant, which began production in 1964, is divided into four areas: Crude Production, Reforming, Utilities and Petrochemical. Currently, the complex processes crude oil to make typical refinery products and generates feedstocks for use in the petrochemical industry.
The maintenance turnaround, which is expected to last 35 nonproduction days, includes the cleaning and maintenance of several units from the Crude Production, Reforming and Utilities areas, including the 73,000-BBL/d Crude 1 Unit, the Vacuum 1 Unit, the 57,000-BBL/d Fluid Catalytic Converter, the Hydrofluoric Alkylation Unit, the Visbreaker, the Hydrodesulfurization (Kerosene) Unit, and the Hydrodesulfurization (Diesel) Unit, among others.
Additionally, managers are finalizing details to perform a planned shutdown in the third quarter of 2013. The turnaround will focus on general maintenance and cleaning of several units such as the 170,000-BBL/d Crude 2 Unit, the 72,600-BBL/d Vacuum 2 Unit, the Continuous Catalytic Reformer, the Isomerization Unit, and the Claus 2 and Claus 3 units.
