Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Guangdong Power Engineering Corporation (GPEC) (Guangzhou, Guangdong), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), completed the erection of the generator stator for Unit 1 of China National Offshore Oil Corporation's (CNOOC) (Beijing) 920-megawatt (MW) Zhuhai Gaolan Port gas-fired cogeneration project on September 17, 2013. CEEC made the announcement on September 23.
The generator stator was manufactured by Dongfang Electric Corporation (Chengdu, Sichuan) and has a total lifting weight of 241 metric tons. The erection was carried out by a lifting system that comprised a 771-metric-ton hydraulic jack tower and a GYT200-type hydraulic lifting device.
The plant is located in the Gaolan Port Economic Zone, in southern China's Guangdong province, and uses gas from CNOOC's Liwan 3-1 Gas Field and its Zhuhai Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal. The power plant has a total planned capacity of 12 sets of F-class, combined-cycle units. Two 460-MW, combined-cycle units, based on M701F4 combustion turbines, were manufactured by Dongfang Electric Corporation, with technology imported from Mitsubishi (NYSE:MTU).
CNOOC Zhuhai Natural Gas Power Generation Company Limited (Zhuhai, Guangdong), a subsidiary of CNOOC Gas & Power Group, is responsible for the development and future operation of the project. Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute (GEDI) (Guangzhou, Guangdong), another subsidiary of the CEEC, is responsible for the engineering.
The project received approval from the Development and Reform Commission of the Guangdong province in late 2011. Construction of the project kicked off on October 27, 2011. According to the schedule, both units of the project will begin operations in the first half of 2014.
