Great Dane Trailers Continues U.S. Expansion

Great Dane Trailers LLC has been consistently expanding its operations throughout the United States.

Released Tuesday, July 19, 2011

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--In the past five years, Industrial Info has tracked 19 projects of Great Dane Trailers LP (Savannah, Georgia). The projects have a combined estimated total investment value of $93 million. The company has been consistently expanding its operations throughout the United States.

Great Dane Trailers is currently constructing a $34 million manufacturing plant in Statesboro, Georgia. The 450,000-square-foot refrigerated trailer manufacturing plant is on a 118-acre site. The facility will have the capacity to produce 5,000+ trailers annually and will employ more than 400 people. Construction began last fall and is expected to be completed by the spring of 2012. Evans General Contractors Incorporated (Savannah) and Rabey Electric Company (Savannah), were selected to provide general construction services and electrical services for the new plant. The company chose the southeast Georgia site to more efficiently serve their customers in this region. The site was selected after a year-long site-study process.

The trucking industry is one of the key indicators for economic growth. As the economy grows, carriers haul more freight to fill the depleted supply chain. As the economy has strengthened, demand for semi trailers has increased. As the economy picks up, companies feel the need to replace aging trailers and increase their fleets to meet increased demand.

Specifically, growth in the Food & Beverage Industry has led to an increase in refrigerated warehouses and distribution centers, prompting the need for increased refrigerated transportation. The growth of this specific niche has allowed Great Dane to increase its operations and refrigerated trailer manufacturing capacity.
