Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The groundbreaking ceremony for Gansu Qilianshan Cement Group Company Limited's (Lanzhou, Gansu) (SHA:600720) 9,000-ton-per-day Gulang cement project recently was held in Gulang County in northwest China's Gansu province. Chenglu Guo, the mayor of Wuwei city and Licheng Tuo, the chairman of Qilianshan Cement Group, as well as other leaders and representatives attended the ceremony, China National Materials Corporation (Sinoma) (Beijing) announced on April 13, 2011.
The proposed cement project is located in the Gulang Chemical and Construction Materials Industry Park, which is about 15 kilometers south of downtown Gulang County and is rich in limestone resources suitable for cement production.
According to the planning, the project will be built with 9,000-ton-per-day new type dry cement clinker production lines, plus associated cement-grinding mills and two 7.5-megawatt waste heat power units with a total investment of $213 million. Sinoma International Engineering Tianjin Company (Tianjin), a regional subsidiary of Sinoma International Engineering Company Limited (Beijing) (SHA: 600970), is responsible for the engineering of the project.
Investment for the two cement-manufacturing lines in Gulang is an important strategic deployment for Sinoma's western expansion strategy. Upon completion, the project will replace one 400-ton-per-day vertical preheating kiln and one 1,000-ton-per-day inefficient cement production line in Gulang. The plant will be the largest cement facility in the Wuwei region.
As a subsidiary of China National Materials Company Limited (Beijing) (HK:01893), the listed flagship of Sinoma, Qilianshan Cement Group is one of the 12 large-scaled cement producers in China and also the largest cement manufacturer in Gansu Province. Qilianshan Cement Group currently has 14 controllable or wholly owned subsidiaries with annual cement production capacity of 15-million metric tons. In 2010, Qilianshan Cement Group's actual cement output reached 8.4 million metric tons.
