Guodian Ningxia Solar Begins Construction of $740 Million Polysilicon Project

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Guodian Ningxia Solar Energy Company Limited (Yinchuan) has begun construction on a $740 million polysilicon project in northwestern China's Ningxia Autonomous Region, China Guodian Corporation announced on October 30. The project, which will be solely invested by Guodian Science & Environmental Group Company (Beijing), is an important part of China Guodian's solar energy development strategy.

The project will occupy 440,000 square meters and have an annual output of 5,000 tons to be built in two phases. Phase I will have an output of 2,500 tons with an investment of $440 million and is expected to begin commercial operation in 2010. Upon completion, the project could supply the required polysilicon material to manufacture 500 megawatts of photovoltaic batteries, which will help to increase the development of renewable resources in Shizuishan City as well as the entire Ningxia region.
