Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--EDF Renewable (San Diego, California) began commercial operations on December 22 at its recently completed 200-megawatt (MW) windfarm in Hereford, Texas.
Blattner Energy Incorporated (Avon, Minnesota), which provided turnkey services for the project, kicked off construction in November 2013.
The windfarm has 54 General Electric (NYSE:GE) (GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut) 1.85-MW wind turbines, and 50 Vestas (Aarhus, Denmark) V100 2-MW wind turbines. EDF Renewable Services is providing long-term operations and maintenance for the facility, as well as balance of plant, project oversight, and continuous remote monitoring of the facility.
The windfarm is producing enough energy to power 55,000 homes, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
