Honeywell Confirms Middle East Presence with Key Contracts

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). Honeywell (NYSE:HON) (Morris Township, New Jersey) is the latest of a string of US companies to confirm its commitment to growing a long-term presence in the Middle East. Speaking at the Petroleum Institute in Abu Dhabi, Honeywell Chairman and CEO Dave Cote said that localization played a focal role in the company’s business strategy using local talent and expertise who understand not only the needs of the company’s customers but the culture of the environment they operate in.

“Training centers, internship programs and partnerships with local universities are some of the ways in which Honeywell is working towards integrating into the industrial and business fabric of the region. Our customers here are supported by local country-based Honeywell service teams that are part of a network of 400 Honeywell specialists and 90 industry experts located across the Middle East,” he said.

Honeywell has booked a series of key contracts in the region in the first months of 2007. In February, it won a $13.5 million contract to provide a manufacturing execution system (MES) for Dolphin Energy’s plant automation and pipeline automation system project. In March, the company was awarded a $7 million contract to implement an Experion knowledge system and Foundation fieldbus system solution at a new chemical plant operated by Kuwait Paraxylene Production company. In May, Aromatics Oman selected Honeywell’s Experion R300 in a $7.7 million contract for its $1.2 facility, the world’s largest paraxylene plant.

Honeywell has been in the Middle East since 1970 and is growing business in the oil and gas, manufacturing and construction sectors by delivering top-end technology and providing lifecycle support to customers. The company recently held its annual Middle East users’ group summit in Dubai.
