Researched by Industrial Info Resources Latin America (Cordoba, Argentina)--Iberdrola S.A. (Madrid, Spain), through its joint venture Força Eolica do Brasil, completed the construction of its Caetité wind complex in the city of Caetité, in the state of Bahia, Brazil, last September. Força Eolica do Brasil was formed by the subsidiaries Iberdrola do Brasil (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Neoenergia (Rio de Janeiro).
The complex is equipped with 45 wind turbines of 2 megawatts (MW) each, provided by Gamesa (MCE:GAM) (Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain), with a total installed capacity of 90 MW.
The complex comprises three windfarms, each 30 MW: Caetité, Caetité II and Caetité III. The construction required an investment of approximately $114 million.
Even though the civil works and mechanical assembling are complete, the company will have to wait until construction on the substation is completed to begin commercial operations in November 2014.
The wind project portfolio of the company includes the 150-MW Calango Windfarm Complex, also under construction in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.
