Iberdrola Renewables Completes Construction of $192 Million Windfarm in Texas

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Iberdrola Renewables Incorporated (Portland, Oregon), a subsidiary of Iberdrola SA (MCE:IBE) (Bilbao, Spain), has completed construction and commenced full commercial operation of the estimated $192 million, 120-megawatt (MW) Barton Chapel Windfarm near Kinder Mountain in Jacksboro, Texas.

The project was built in two phases. Phase I began construction in early 2007, and Phase II began construction this summer. Iberdrola commenced commercial operation of the entire project at the end of October. The project consisted of constructing a total of 60 2-MW Gamesa Energy USA G80 wind turbine generators in Jacksboro. Phase I includes 26 turbines, and Phase II includes 34 turbines for a total of 120 MW, which is enough energy to power nearly 36,000 homes.
