Formosa Plastics has started planned maintenance at its 2.9 billion-pound-per-year ethylene dichloride (EDC) unit in Point Comfort, Texas. The unit is scheduled for an approximately 30-day turnaround, which is expected to be completed at the end of June.

BASF Total Petrochemicals's 2.3 billion-pound-per-year ethylene unit in Port Arthur, Texas, remains offline. The unit unexpectedly shut down on June 12 due to mechanical complications with a compressor.

SABIC UK Petrochemicals shut down its 2.3 billion-pound-per-year ethylene plant in Wilton, United Kingdom on June 17, due to an unplanned mechanical fault at the cooling tower within the steam cracker. The plant is expected to be offline for two weeks, and restart is expected in early July. Meanwhile, a planned plant-wide turnaround, which was scheduled for May, has been rescheduled to October due to COVID-19.

Yeochun NCC Company remains on schedule to perform a 61-day planned turnaround of the 1.2 billion-pound-per-year ethylene unit, on October 5, at its Yeosu Chemicals No. 2 Plant in South Korea. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the unit by December 4. In addition, a revamp project aimed at increasing the unit capacity up to 1.72 billion pounds per year will be performed during the turnaround.

Angarsky Zavod Polymerov OAO continues with a planned turnaround of the 143.3 million-pound-per-year LDPE unit, which began June 24, at its Angarsk, Russia, chemical plant. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the unit by July 31.
