Chevron Phillips Chemical restarted partial operations at its 2.3 billion-pound-per-year polyethylene (PE) plant in Pasadena, Texas

Chevron Phillips Chemical restarted partial operations at its 2.3 billion-pound-per-year polyethylene (PE) plant in Pasadena, Texas. The plant shut down on February 15 due to Winter Storm Uri. One production unit has been restarted, while the other two will remain offline for another three weeks.
Sasol continues planning and scheduling for a 45- to 60-day turnaround of the 920 million-pound-per-year Ethylene East unit in Westlake (Lake Charles), Louisiana. The turnaround is tentatively scheduled to begin in fourth-quarter 2021; however, it could potentially be rescheduled to spring 2022.
Chevron Phillips Chemical's 560 million-pound-per-year Ethylene 22 unit at its Sweeny, Texas, plant, remains offline. The unit shut down on February 15 due to Winter Storm Uri, and is expected to attempt a restart on March 20.

Arabian Petrochemical Company (Petrokemya) restarted the 2.4 billion-pound-per-year ethylene unit (Olefins-IV) on March 14 at its Jubail (Sadaf) Complex in Saudi Arabia. The turnaround, which was initially planned from June 17, was accelerated due to some technical issues. The unit had been under a planned maintenance shutdown since February 1.
DL Chemical (Daelim Petrochemical Division) restarted the 1.1 billion-pound-per-year linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) unit on February 28 at its Yeosu Chemicals Plant in South Korea. The unit shut down for a 273-day planned turnaround, with a revamp project, on June 1, 2020. During the shutdown, the unit's capacity was increased from 573 million pounds per year to 1.1 billion pounds per year.
GAIL India Limited has rescheduled a 13-day maintenance turnaround of the 992 million-pound-per-year Ethylene Unit 1 at its Auraiya (Pata) Complex in India, due to slow market demand. The turnaround, which was initially planned for March 22, is now tentatively planned for May 8. Expectations are to complete the repairs and restart the unit by May 20. Separately, the 15-day turnaround of Ethylene Unit 2 has been rescheduled from April 4, to begin May 21. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the unit by June 16.
