Motiva Enterprises, on August 6, restarted the 195,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Crude Vacuum Pipe Still (VPS) 4 and the 80,000-BBL/d VPS-2 at its 600,000-BBL/d Port Arthur, Texas, refinery, after the units shut down on August 5 due to a power blip.

ExxonMobil, on August 5, shut down the 80,000-BBL/d PTR 4 Continuous Catalytic Reformer at its 350,000-BBL/d Beaumont, Texas, refinery, due to a mechanical issue. Repairs are underway, and the restart could take place by the end of the week.

Nghi Son Refining and Petrochemical Limited Liability Company (NSRP), on August 8, began an 11-day minor maintenance turnaround at its 200,000-BBL/d Nghi Son Refinery in Vietnam, which includes 10 units.

Kar Group, on July 15, restarted the 60,000-BBL/d Kar Area 2, and the 40,000-BBL/d Area 1 resumed normal operations, at its 160,000-BBL/d Erbil Refinery in Iraq. The 60,000-BBL/d Area 3 has been shut down since December 15, 2020 due to a crude oil shortage. Tentative expectations are to restart the units by December 15, 2021.

Shandong Kenli Petrochemical Group Company Limited is planning a 45-day plant-wide turnaround, which would begin September 1 and involve seven major units, at its 90,000-BBL/d Dongying Refinery in China.
