Suncor Energy, on September 17, began a 24-day planned maintenance turnaround of the Hydrogen (H2) Unit, 150-ton-per-day Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU) and 150-ton-per-day Steam Methane Reforming (SMR) Unit at its 83,000-BBL/d Sarnia, Ontario, refinery.

Placid Refining will begin a 30-day maintenance turnaround of four units this weekend at its 80,000-BBL/d Port Allen, Louisiana, refinery.

Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), on September 20, started commercial production at the new 100,000-BBL/d Atmospheric Residue Desulfurization (ARDS) 1 (Unit 112), 70,000-BBL/d Hydrocracker Unit 114 and the 18,000-BBL/d Reformer (Unit 127) at its 454,000-BBL/d (actual capacity: 420,000 BBL/d) Mina Abdulla Refinery in Kuwait. The units had been under construction since February 15, 2015.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is planning a 30-day major maintenance turnaround of the 210,000-BBL/d IREP block, which would begin September 15, 2022, at its 320,000-BBL/d Kochi Refinery in India. The IREP block includes six major units.

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) has delayed the restart of the 96,000-BBL/d Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) 1 at its 300,000-BBL/d Mangalore Refinery in India, due to some additional repairs. The unit now is expected to restart by September 26 after being under an unplanned shutdown since August 15.
