India's paper imports declined 25% in the first three quarters of 2019 after shipments from other countries were rerouted to China. The news made India's domestic paper producers optimistic, as it could boost prices for paper products.
According to data gathered by Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S), India imported about 1.1 million tons of paper and paperboard over the last three quarters of 2018, badly affecting the domestic paper industry.
