Among the projects planned to begin construction in the quarter is Howard Midstream Energy Partners LLC's (San Antonio, Texas) grassroot refined products pipeline, which will run 141 miles, carrying refined products from the Corpus Christi area to Laredo, Texas. The pipeline will ship 70,000 to 90,000 barrels per day (BBL/d). Construction is expected to be completed in the first half of next year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Also planned to kick off in the quarter is a cargo dock expansion at the Port of Corpus Christi. The project will increase ship draft from 47 feet to 54 feet and will provide space for more than 100 million barrels of additional storage to be used for loading and unloading Handymax and Panamax-size vessels. Orion Construction LP (Deer Park, Texas) is performing design-build work on the project, which has an estimated total investment value (TIV) of $50 million. The project is expected to kick off before the end of the year and take about two years to complete. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Industrial Info also is tracking the upgrades of two fluid catalytic cracker units (FCCUs) at Corpus Christi refineries. Flint Hills Resources LP (Wichita, Kansas) will upgrade its 45,000-BBL/d FCCU 2 by modifying the main fractionation column and replacing regenerator cyclones. The project is expected to start in the fourth quarter and be completed by the end of the year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report. CITGO Petroleum Corporation (Houston, Texas) will enhance its 13,000-BBL/d FCCU 1 by modifying the main fractionation column and replacing the reactor and regenerator internals. The project is expected to be completed before the end of the year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Some even larger projects are expected to wrap up in the quarter. Among these is EPIC Midstream Holdings LP's grassroot NGL fractionation plant. The plant will be able to process 100,000 BBL/d of NGLs fed to the plant from EPIC's NGL pipeline. Optimized Process Designs LLC (Katy, Texas) is performing engineering, procurement and construction. Construction on the plant kicked off earlier this year and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
In the Terminals Industry, Plains All American Pipeline LP (NYSE:PAA) (Houston, Texas) is wrapping up construction of a crude oil storage oil terminal and dock at the site of a former zinc plant waste site. The terminal will consist of two 270,000-barrel tanks and two 350,000-barrel tanks and a deepwater ship dock to support production from the Eagle Ford Shale. Construction on the $200 million project began late last year, with Specialty Tank Services (La Porte, Texas) as the contractor. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
Magellan Midstream Partners LP (NYSE:MMP) (Tulsa, Oklahoma) is completing a crude oil terminal addition at its facility in Corpus Christi.
