The aforementioned projects are a true indicator of the breadth and diversity of the industrial manufacturing industry.

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). As the first quarter of 2005 comes to a close, a glimpse into the near future shows that the Industrial Manufacturing industry is still rocketing forward on all cylinders when it comes to capital and maintenance spending. Analysis of spending slated for the remaining three quarters of 2005 shows that the industry can lay claim to close to one thousand active projects worth over $26 billion currently scheduled to begin construction in what remains of 2005.
The aforementioned projects are a true indicator of the breadth and diversity of the industrial manufacturing industry. From light rail to semiconductors to plastics to universities to automotive tier suppliers, these projects cover a wide variety of industry segments and stretch from Maine to California, from Texas to Michigan.
From a standpoint of project location, California is leading the spending pack with an estimated $5.7 billion in capital and maintenance work still scheduled for the balance of the year. However, from a regional standpoint, the Southeast region of the country will reap the benefits of the spending, with close to $6.6 billion allocated for its states, while the West Coast runs a close second, with spending to exceed $6.5 billion.
As with most recent years, the light rail industry is the frontrunner in spending within the industrial manufacturing industry. With over $13 billion allocated to capital projects throughout the balance of 2005, the light rail industry, by far, outshines any of the other industries that, together, comprise the industrial manufacturing industry. Running a distant second in spending are the nation's ports, at $1.6 billion, followed by the automotive tier suppliers ($1.5 billion) and the automotive assembly plants ($1.2 billion).
All in all, the balance of 2005 promises to be a year of great spending, in spite of rising interest rates, for the industrial manufacturing industry, in both maintenance and capital work, that will provide a wealth of opportunities for contractors and equipment suppliers all across the U.S.
