Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Investor-owned biodiesel startup Integrated Energy Partners Incorporated (Cantonment, Florida) is meeting opposition from the town of Century, Florida, about locating the company's biofuels plant in town. Integrated Energy Partners is seeking revenue bonds to finance the estimated $30 million project.
Just across the Escambia River, in the town of Jay, in Santa Rosa County, the county failed to issue bonds to fund the project, and that site was scrubbed from the plan. Now the company is facing similar problems in Escambia County.
Plans call for the creation of a biofuels plant that will process locally grown camelina and cottonseed oils into 3 million gallons per year of biodiesel, as well as kerosene, cellulosic ethanol and propane. A 4.7-megawatt power island is also included in the project.
If built, the plant will generate 30 new jobs, increasing the county tax base. The facility will sell electricity to the local utility.
If bonds are approved by the county, the company is ready to move forward by selecting a design-build contractor. Construction would start in early 2011, and the plant would be operational 12 months after ground is broken.
Industrial Info's Ethanol Database provides a comprehensive outline of all current development activities in the emerging alternative fuels market. This database covers 177 ethanol plants in operation and 530 plants under development. It also covers 145 operational biodiesel plants and 245 biodiesel plants under development.
