Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The sky's the limit for Jacobs Solutions Incorporated (NYSE:J) (Dallas, Texas)--or maybe not. The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) titan is managing all ground operations for NASA's first Artemis mission, which launched a rocket last week to fly around the moon and back to Earth. On terra firma, Jacobs is continuing to develop its role in the energy transition and cybersecurity markets. Industrial Info is tracking more than $145 billion worth of projects worldwide involving Jacobs, more than half of which is attributed to projects under construction.

Jacobs' project backlog increased from about $26.6 billion to $27.9 billion during the recently ended quarter, which the company says was fueled largely by global climate and infrastructure initiatives, supply-chain modernizations, and national-security priorities. Earlier this year, Jacobs launched its divergent solutions team to better develop its role in cloud computing, cybersecurity, data and other digital technologies.
This summer, Jacobs was among the companies that broke ground on a $300 million data center in Columbus, Ohio. Alphabet Incorporated (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (Mountain View, California), the parent company of Google, aims to boost regional support for the web-browsing service through a series of projects in Ohio. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Industrial Manufacturing Project Database can learn more from a detailed project report.
Jacobs also is involved in about $2.8 billion worth of data-center projects for Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) (Redmond, Washington). Most are in Arizona, where the companies began construction in September on a $220 million data-center expansion in El Mirage, which is in northwestern Phoenix. Jacobs and its partners are adding a sixth building to the complex to provide hyperscale data services. Subscribers can learn more from Industrial Info's project report.
Altogether, Jacobs is involved in nearly $4 billion worth of data-center projects across the U.S. Subscribers can click here for a full list of related project reports.
In a recent quarterly earnings-related conference call, Steve Demetriou, the chief executive officer of Jacobs, said the company would formally break out its Divergent Solutions business unit during the current quarter, which is Jacobs' fiscal first quarter of 2023: "We have consolidated the majority of our software and data solutions into a single unit to gain benefits from consistent product management, marketing and research and development. Our data solutions are aligned to three high-growth verticals of transportation, water and national security."
On the renewable-energy front, Jacobs is serving as a consultant on a trio of solar farms in Clewiston, Florida, from Florida Power & Light Company, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Incorporated (NYSE:NEE) (Juno Beach, Florida). Located in south-central Florida, about halfway between West Palm Beach and Fort Myers, the three solar farms each are expected to generate about 74.5 megawatts (MW) from between 200,000 and 250,000 photovoltaic (PV) modules.
The three projects--Beautyberry, Hendry Isle and Woodyard--remain in the permitting process, but could begin construction as early as next summer. Subscribers to Industrial Info's GMI Power Project Database can read detailed reports on the Beautyberry, Hendry Isle and Woodyard projects.
Jacobs is developing a series of transmission and distribution (T&D) projects across Ohio for American Transmission Systems Incorporated, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corporation (NYSE:FE) (Akron, Ohio), which is working to rebuild at least 50 miles of power lines in the area. Jacobs is serving as environmental consultant on a 21-mile stretch from Homeworth to Euclid, Ohio, and a 31-mile stretch from Euclid to Carrollton, Ohio.
The projects are among a series of T&D efforts from FirstEnergy to better ensure power reliability and resilience across Ohio. Subscribers can learn more from Industrial Info's detailed reports on the Homeworth-to-Euclid and Euclid-to-Carrollton projects.
