Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Delhi, India)--Rental power-solution provider Jakson Limited (Noida, Uttar Pradesh) is set to commission its maiden solar power projects in Rajasthan. Two solar photovoltaic power projects of 10 megawatts (MW) each that are located in Manchitiya village, in the Jodhpur district of the state, are slated to commence generation by the end of February 2013.
Jakson bagged these projects last year through tariff-based competitive bidding from India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) (New Delhi, India) under the Batch-II scheme of the first phase of Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM).
Jakson Limited has entered into a power purchase agreement with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN) (New Delhi), the power trading arm of Indian power major NTPC Limited (BSE:532555) (New Delhi) for sale of power from the project.
The construction of these projects began in mid-2012; they were set up with 4,000 polycrystalline silicon solar photovoltaic panels of 250 watts each, supplied by Vikram Solar Limited (Kolkata, India).
JNNSM envisages the development of 20 gigawatts (GW) of solar power projects by 2022 by adding 1,000 MW in Phase I by 2013 and 4,000 MW in Phase II by 2017, and reaching 20 GW of capacity in Phase III. NVVNL is the designated the nodal agency for sale and purchase of grid-connected solar power for the first phase of the mission. Under the Batch-II of Phase I of the mission, MNRE has selected 20 private-sector companies through tariff-based competitive bidding to develop a total of 350 MW solar power projects.
Jakson Power Solutions is a diversified group with multiple business interests. The power generation business of the company entails manufacturing of Silent DG & gas generating sets with acoustic enclosures for various applications of rental power. The solar and power distribution division of the group focuses on manufacturing switchboards, control panels, solar inverter substations, string combiner boxes and solar generators. The company also provides turnkey solutions from concept to commissioning of grid-connected and rooftop solar power projects. With this 20-MW solar capacity near commissioning, the company now plans reach a solar power capacity of 100 MW in next three years.
