Researched by Industrial Info Resources India (Delhi, India)--Jakson Limited (Noida, Uttar Pradesh), India's leading rental power-solution provider, has commissioned its maiden solar power projects in Rajasthan. Two solar photovoltaic power plants of 10 megawatts (MW) each, located at Manchitiya village in the Jodhpur district of the state, commenced operations on February 23, 2013. The construction for these projects began in mid-2012.
The two power stations have been developed with polycrystalline-silicon-based solar panels of 240, 245, 250 watt-peak (Wp) capacities, supplied by Vikram Solar Limited (Kolkata, India). Jakson bagged these projects last year through tariff-based competitive bidding from India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) (New Delhi, India), under the Batch-II scheme of the first phase of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM). Jakson Limited has entered into a power purchase agreement with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN) (New Delhi), the power trading arm of Indian power major NTPC Limited (BSE:532555) (New Delhi) for sale of power from the project.
JNNSM envisages the development of 20 gigawatts (GW) of solar power projects by 2022, by adding 1,000 MW in Phase I by 2013 and 4,000 MW in Phase II by 2017, and reaching 20 GW of capacity in Phase III. NVVNL has been designated the nodal agency for sale and purchase of grid-connected solar power for the first phase of the mission.
Jakson Power Solutions is a diversified group with multiple business interests. The power generation business of the company entails manufacturing of silent diesel generators and gas-based generating sets with acoustic enclosures for various applications of rental power. The solar and power distribution division of the group focuses on manufacturing switchboards, control panels, solar inverter substations, string combiner boxes and solar generators. The company also provides turn-key solutions from concept to commissioning of grid-connected and rooftop solar power projects. With this 20-MW solar capacity near commissioning, the company now plans to reach a solar power capacity of 100 MW in the next three years.
