Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info is pleased to be presenting a complimentary webinar on the spending outlook for the global Chemical Processing Industry on Wednesday, March 23, at 10 a.m. CDT (11 a.m. EDT). The webinar will be repeated for audiences in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Join Trey Hamblet, Industrial Info's vice president of research for Chemical Processing, and Shaheen Chohan, vice president of Global Analytics, as they discuss the trends and market drivers in the industry for the rest of this year and 2023.
In 2021, the Chemical Processing Industry was presented with a unique set of challenges that influenced decisions for many owners of planned world-scale capacity investments. While the prospect of an improved global economic outlook creates more certainty for many project owners, competition for a share of key global end-use growth markets remains intense.
Industrial Info is tracking more than $1.6 trillion in chemical processing projects throughout the world, including nearly $157 billion worth in North America. As is to be expected, petrochemicals dominate the spending outlook, with more than $757 billion worth of projects, followed by the plastics/rubbers segment and agricultural chemicals.

In North America, world-scale projects are seeing movement as Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) (Irving, Texas) and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) ramp up their ethylene and derivatives facility in Texas, Shell (NYSE:SHEL) (London, England) completes the construction of its plant in Pennsylvania, and Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC (The Woodlands, Texas) settles on a location along the Texas Gulf Coast for a new ethylene facility. In Asia, China alone has more than $580 billion worth of active petrochemical projects.
Topics addressed in the webinar will include:
- Where is the next wave of world-scale petrochemical capacity additions being planned?
- Which market regions are investing to capture future demand growth?
- What are the main chemical sectors presenting the biggest pipeline of future spending?
- What are the key market drivers influencing future spending?
