Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) is pleased to be presenting a complimentary webinar on the spending outlook for the Chemical Processing Industry in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The webinar will be held Wednesday, November 7, at 9 a.m. CDT (10 a.m. EDT). Join Shaheen Chohan, Industrial Info's vice president of global analytics, for a discussion on the region's rapidly developing Chemicals sector.

The APAC region accounts for more than 55% of the current $1.1 trillion global active pipeline of Chemical Processing investments under development. Among the largest projects being tracked by Industrial Info in the region is Petroliam Nasional Berhad's (PETRONAS) Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) project in Malaysia, which is set to be completed next year. In addition to refining, the project will produce 7.7 million metric tons per year of chemical products. The project includes construction of a steam cracker to produce 1.1 million metric tons per year of ethylene. Construction on the ethylene unit began in 2016 and is scheduled for completion in the middle of next year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Even as the sector develops in the region, it faces challenges. Traditional regional chemical producers face strong competition from cost-advantaged U.S. counterparts, challenging their ability to build competitive capacity to serve one of the world's fastest-growing chemicals consumer markets.

The webinar will touch on these and other subjects, including:
  • the current demand drivers supporting regional chemical investments
  • the current 24-month capital project outlook
  • a breakdown of planned spending by project type and different chemical sectors
  • the prevailing market drivers influencing future planned spending
