Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--On September 18, 2013, China Huadian Corporation (Beijing) announced that it had awarded the major equipment procurement contracts for China Huadian Corporation Materials Company Limited's (Huadian Materials) (Beijing) turbines, generators and boilers (TGB) to Shanghai Electric Corporation Limited (SH.601727, HK.02727) (Shanghai) and Dongfang Electric Corporation's Dongfang Turbines Company Limited (Deyang, Sichuan). The work will be performed at Shaanxi Huadian Yangling Thermal Power Company Limited's (Xianyang, Shaanxi) 700-megawatt (MW) Yangling cogeneration project.

This is the first TGB contract signed by Huadian Materials for the power plant, marking an achievement for China Huadian Corporation in the construction of a unified tendering and material procurement platform.

The Huadian Yangling Coal-fired Cogeneration Power Station, located in the Yangling Modern Agricultural Demonstration District, is owned by Huadian Shaanxi Energy Company Limited (Xian, Shaanxi), a regional subsidiary of China Huadian Corporation. The power station has a total planned capacity of four 350-MW units. Two 350-MW, coal-fired, combined heat and power units will be built in Phase I. Northwest Electric Power Design Institute (Xian, Shaanxi), a subsidiary of China Power Engineering Consultancy Corporation (Beijing), is responsible for the design and engineering of the project.

The Phase I project received approval from the National Energy Administration to kick off pre-stage preparation in March 2011. The invitations for bids on TGB main equipment for the project were issued toward the end of 2011; however, due to the delay in receiving final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission and the bad market situation for coal-fired power in the past years, the signing of the TGB main equipment procurement contract was postponed. According to the latest schedule, construction on the project will kick off in November 2013, and both units will be put into operation in 2015.
