Panipat Refinery is divided into three areas, with a total of 35 operational units. The plant is one of 10 refineries that IOC owns and operates in India. The company has a combined refining capacity of 1.21 million barrels per day (BBL/d).

The future planned turnaround, which will mainly entail cleaning and inspection work, will be carried out in the Old Panipat Refinery Block, which has 10 operational units, including the 120,000-BBL/d Crude Unit, the 17,000-BBL/d Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit, the 34,000-BBL/d Hydrocracker and the 17,000-BBL/d Diesel Hydro Desulfurization Unit, among others. The shutdown will start on October 25 and will last approximately 25 nonproduction days. Maintenance turnarounds at the Old Panipat Refinery Block are performed every two years.
