The Wolverine State has 13 industrial manufacturing projects with a cumulative total investment value (TIV) of $1.4 billion. The $877 million body shop expansion at an assembly plant in Flint is the biggest. Owned by General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) (Detroit, Michigan), the project includes the construction of an 883,000 square-foot body shop at a crew- and regular-cab truck manufacturing campus.

Oil and gas pipelines include the kickoff of two projects worth $425 million. The larger one is the $300 million Adrian Rover Grassroot Natural Gas Pipeline, which is owned by Energy Transfer Partners LP (NYSE:ETP) (Dallas, Texas). This project is part of the 710-mile Rover Pipeline project from the Utica and Marcellus shales. It entails the installation of 179 miles of transmission pipeline to move 1.3 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of natural gas from the Midwest Hub near Adrian, Michigan to the international border near Dawn, Ontario.

Michigan has 15 power projects valued at $394 million. A brownfield 50-megawatt (MW) biomass combined heat and power project is at the top, with a TIV of $90 million. Located in the city of Gwinn, the project is owned by Marquette Green Energy LLC (Belleville, Michigan). It consists of a fuel processing and handling system, steam turbine and modifications of existing boiler to burn biomass (woodchip and wood waste) at a former combined heat and power plant.
