Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Farmer cooperative owned ethanol venture, Mid-Missouri Energy Group (Malta Bend, Missouri) has begun processing corn at its new fuel ethanol plant located in Malta Bend, Missouri. After nearly three years of planning, raising money and building, the ethanol venture is expected to have its first batch of the renewable fuel ready to hit the market by February 22, 2005. The plant is designed to produce 45 million gallons annually.
Construction began around October 2003 under the direction of leading ethanol plant builder, Fagen Incorporated (Granite Falls, Minnesota) and took about sixteen months to construct. The more than $55 million plant will process fifteen million bushels of corn per year into ethanol, dried distillers grains, and C02.
The facility, the third of its kind in Missouri, is the first ethanol plant to become operational in 2005. Two other plants in the state also have the capability of producing 60 million gallons per year. More than 20 ethanol plants are currently under construction in North America.
The goals of Mid-Missouri Energy are to maximize the return on investment to investors by adding value to area corn production, create economic development in the area, and foster a positive environment for employees. Mid-Missouri Energy is committed to being a good corporate citizen by utilizing state-of-the-art technology and being environmentally friendly, while making a renewable fuel that will make the U.S. less dependent on foreign oil.
