Among the largest projects planned to kick off in the region in the upcoming quarter is Apple Incorporated's (NASDAQ:AAPL) (Cupertino, California) planned data center in Waukee, Iowa, on the western outskirts of Des Moines. The project entails constructing a 400,000-square-foot data center with two data halls to serve as a data management site for Apple applications such as Siri, FaceTime and iMessages. Civil Design Advantage (Grimes, Iowa) is providing engineering on the project, which is expected to take about a year to complete. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

As online sales grow, bricks-and-mortar companies are stepping up their ability to deliver products to customers through both online orders and point-of-sale locations. Among the other projects set to kick off in Iowa is Northern Tool + Equipment's (Burnsville, Minnesota) grassroot distribution center in Ankeny, Iowa, to the north of Des Moines. On a 66-acre site, a 600,000-square-foot building will be constructed to enable the company to serve its online customers as well as service more than 100 retails stores. Northern Tool is allowing room to grow, and the facility will be expandable by 350,000 square feet. Ryan Companies US Incorporated (Minneapolis, Minnesota) is the general contractor on the project, which is expected to be completed next summer. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

In Kansas, Park Aerospace Corporation (Melville, New York) plans to expand its aircraft parts manufacturing facility in Newton. The project includes constructing a 90,000-square-foot building addition with production equipment and additional assembly lines to double manufacturing and office space. The project is set for completion in third-quarter 2020. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Continental AG (Hannover, Germany) will expand its industrial and hydraulic hose manufacturing plant in Norfolk, Nebraska, in the upcoming quarter. The plant currently manufactures 70 million feet of hose per year, and a 19,000-square-foot building expansion will increase this capacity. Crafts Incorporated (Manitowoc, Wisconsin) is the general contractor. The project is expected to be completed by the start of 2020. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

While not a large magnet for automobile and auto parts production, a few such projects are planned to kick off in the Midwest in the quarter. Among these is Seats Incorporated's (Reedsburg, Wisconsin) renovation of a 60,000-square-foot brownfield site to weld, stamp and laser-cut metal parts for automotive seats. The project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of next year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

PDM Precast Incorporated (Des Moines, Iowa) will begin construction on a grassroot plant for structural steel products and metal fabrication. The project will include construction of a 52,600-square-foot manufacturing building and 5,400 square feet of office space. The grassroot construction is the first phase of a multi-phase project. An expansion of the facility is planned to help consolidate manufacturing and headquarters facilities. The expansion includes a 20,000-square-foot building addition with precast, hollow-core concrete slab manufacturing equipment. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on the grassroot construction and expansion.
