Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Botswana's mining sector appears to be on a firm turnaround path from the economic shock of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The prices of most commodities have improved, enabling mines under care and maintenance mode to reopen, with a revival of several exploration programs.
Mining is a strong pillar of the nation's economy, and Botswana's Chamber of Mines aims to pursue reforms to ensure that mines operate in a more conducive environment, using legislation and permitting to induce greater investment.
Development of electric power, telecommunications and water infrastructure also would lead to a stronger recovery in the mining sector.
Industrial Info is tracking 45 projects worth US$5.66 billion (USD). Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Metals & Minerals Project Database can click here for a list of detailed project reports.

One of the projects being tracked is Sandfire Resources NL's (West Perth, Western Australia) Ghanzi Grassroot Above-Ground T3 Motheo Copper-Silver Mine. Now under construction, the open-pit operation could recover an average of 10,000 tons per year of copper and 1.2 million ounces per year of silver during its first 10 years. Completion is planned for late 2023. Subscribers can click here for the project report and click here for the plant profile.
