NCPE Wins General Contract for Hanas New Energy Group's Yinchuan Eastern Combined-Cycle Project

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--North China Power Engineering Corporation (NCPE) (Beijing), a regional subsidiary of China Power Engineering Consulting Corporation (CPECC) (Beijing), recently signed the general contract for the Yinchuan Eastern 800-megawatt combined-cycle project with Hanas New Energy Group Company Limited (Yinchuan, Ningxia) in Beijing. Liu Chao'an, the chairman of NCPE, and Ma Fuqiang, the president of Hanas New Energy Group, signed the contract on behalf of both parties, CPECC announced on November 1, 2010.

The Yinchuan Eastern project, which is north of Helanshan Road, east of National Highway 109 and west of Shizhong Expressway in Xingqing cistrict of Yinchuan City, is the first large-scale, clean-energy project fueled by natural gas for combined heat, power and cold supply in the Ningxia autonomous region. The project received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission, the top planner of China, in August this year. Total investment of the project will be about $570 million.

The project will be adopted with four sets of combined-cycle units based on SGT5-2000E-type gas turbined, which are to be made by Shanghai Electric Corporation (Shanghai) with key components imported from Simens Thermal Power Group. Upon completion, the project will replace the existing middle- and small-sized coal-fired boilers in Yinchuan downtown, and provide centralized heat and cold supply services in the targeted area, so as to optimize the energy structure and effectively improve the urban environment in Yinchuan. Both governments of Yinchuan City and Ningxia autonomous region have attached high attention to the project. Successful construction of the project will have a profound influence on the development of gas-fired power generation in Ningxia, as well as the entire northwest region.
