Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--While Wisconsin, once a heavily unionized state, has seen a spate of anti-union legislation in recent years in regard to state workers, those unions involved in the construction industry continue to provide high-quality, on-time work, encouraging project developers to use union labor.
Barrett's use of union labor on the project thoroughly convinced him of the value and quality of the work done--so much so that he now considers himself an exclusively "union developer."
Zak Koga, the project manager for J.H. Findorff, the general contractor on the project, also praised the NECA-IBEW team that worked on the Moderne. "We find ourselves working with the union electrical contractors in a lot of our jobs," says Koga. "At the end of the day in the free market, they've been competitive, they can perform, they warrant and maintain projects, they build them fast and safe, and they've been good partners."
In this episode of "Industry Today," learn how the NECA-IBEW team helped change the Milwaukee skyline, and why the building developer chooses NECA contractors to perform the electrical work on his construction projects.
The National Electrical Contractors Association, or NECA, has provided more than a century of service to the $130 billion electrical construction industry that brings power, light, and communication technology to buildings and communities across the United States. NECA's national and 119 local chapters advance the industry through advocacy, education, research, and standards development.
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, or IBEW, represents approximately 725,000 members who work in a wide variety of fields, including utilities, construction, telecommunications, broadcasting, manufacturing, railroads and government. The IBEW has members in both the United States and Canada and stands out among the American unions in the AFL-CIO because it is among the largest and has members in so many skilled occupations.
