Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). Plum Pont Energy Associates, LLC (PPEA), whose majority owner is LS Power Development, LLC (East Brunswick, New Jersey), with minority interests by Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility (Chesterfield, Missouri), East Texas Electric Cooperative, Incorporated (Nacogdoches, Texas) and Empire District Electric Company (Joplin, Missouri), has a 665-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station being built in Mississippi County, near Osceola, Arkansas. The engineering, procurement, and construction (E+P+C) is being performed by Plum Point Power Partners (PPPP), a tri-venture of Black and Veatch (Kansas City Missouri), Gilbert Central Corporation, and Zachry Construction Corporation (San Antonio Texas).
Once operational in mid-2010, the plant will employ about 75 personnel. The low sulfur coal (Wyoming Powder River Basin) will be delivered by rail. As an additional environmentally friendly issue of the new plant, it will also use a cooling tower so as to not use water directly from the Mississippi River for cooling the condenser.
