LNG
Hanwha to Build U.S.-Flagged LNG Carrier - Hanwha Shipping (Houston, Texas), a U.S. subsidiary of Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean (Geoje, South Korea), on Tuesday said it ordered a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier valued at roughly $252 million from its own Pennsylvania-based unit Hanwha Philly Shipyard. Under the agreement, the ship will be built in South Korea and flagged in the United States. It is slated for delivery in the first half of 2028. (Reuters)
PRODUCTION
Norway's June Oil, Gas Production Exceeds Official Forecast - Norway's combined oil and gas production exceeded an official forecast by 2.3% in June, the Norwegian Offshore Directorate (NOD) said on Tuesday. Natural gas production in June fell to 292.3 million cubic meters (mcm) per day from 345.9 mcm a year earlier, but exceeded a forecast of 283.6 mcm by 3.1%, the regulator said on its website. Crude oil output fell to 1.68 million barrels per day (BBL/d) in June from 1.73 million BBL/d in the same month last year, but came in above a forecast of 1.62 million BBL/d, NOD's preliminary data showed. POWER
Philippines Set for First Coal-Fired Power Decline in 17 Years - The Philippines is on track for an annual decline in coal-fired electricity output for the first time in nearly two decades, an analysis of market and government data showed, driven by rising LNG-fired power generation. Gas-fired generation surged more than 25% in June year-on-year and rose 5.2% to 10.36 terawatt hours in the first half of this year, data from the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines showed. That helped push the share of gas-fired power output to 17.5% in the first half of 2025, up from a record low of 13.9% in 2023. In 2020, the Philippines stopped accepting new proposals for coal-based power projects to encourage investment in other energy sources like natural gas and renewables. Higher LNG imports will drive annual gas-fired output up by 65% by 2030 from 2024 levels, Aurora Energy Research's James Ha said. (Reuters)
