New York Has Nearly $20 Billion in Industrial Projects Under Construction or Planned to Kick Off in 2011

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--With 57 major industrial projects totaling $14.2 billion under construction, New York is the second-largest state after Texas for industrial project construction in 2010. Texas has 173 industrial projects totaling $25.3 billion under construction, according to a recent study by Industrial Info.

The Industrial Manufacturing Industry leads New York industrial project construction this year, with 14 projects totaling $8.5 billion. Projects under way include a grassroot semiconductor-manufacturing plant, a university cogeneration plant addition, and a regional distribution center for CVS (NYSE:CVS).

After Industrial Manufacturing, the Pharma-Biotech Industry is the second-largest industry for industrial projects under construction, with 13 projects totaling almost $4 billion. Pharma-Biotech Industry projects include a clinical and translational research center and bio incubator, a pharmacy lab renovation, and the National Synchrotron Light Source II addition at the Brookhaven National Laboratory.

Looking down the road for next year, there are 139 projects totaling $5.6 billion scheduled to begin construction between now and end of 2011. There are a number of windfarms on the books, a natural gas pipeline for National Fuel Gas Company (Williamsville, New York), and a $100 million yogurt-manufacturing plant.
