Industrial Info is tracking more than $12.4 billion worth of industrial projects under construction in the state. The projects cover a range of industries, although the Industrial Manufacturing and Power industries, together accounting for more than $7 billion worth of projects, lead in terms of project value.
New York has set some of the loftiest renewable energy goals in the nation, with its Clean Energy Standard aiming for 70% of all electricity used in the state to come from renewable sources by 2030. New York's project activity shows several renewable energy plants under construction for both wind and solar power. Solar power projects include NextEra Energy Incorporated's (NYSE:NEE) (Juno Beach, Florida) Trelina solar energy center in Waterloo. Windfarms under construction in the state include Northland Power Incorporated's (Toronto, Ontario) grassroot Bluestone Windfarm. The project kicked off in 2021 and entails erecting 26 Vestas turbines, each rated at 4.8 MW, to achieve a nameplate generating capacity of 125 MW. The project, which kicked off last summer, entails demolishing three existing buildings and constructing a new 10-story, 240,000-square-foot building to provide testing and analysis services for microbiology, environmental sciences, toxicology, virology and more. Skanska (Stockholm, Sweden) is providing construction management services on the project, which is expected to be completed in early 2026.
