Newspaper Printing Plant Expansion Scheduled in Indiana

Fort Wayne Newspapers Incorporated (Fort Wayne, Indiana) is currently planning a $35 million expansion of its printing plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Construction plans call for the demolition of an existing building in downtown Fort Wayne, along Main Street, and construction of a six-story, 47,000 square foot printing plant, as well as the replacement of a 12-unit Goss Mark I letterpress, with a new 50-inch web offset printing press.

A bridge will also be constructed connecting the new plant to the existing 155,025 square foot plant. The new building will include a newsprint warehouse, printing plate, locker room, and break rooms. Design is currently underway for the expansion and a general contractor will be selected in the late summer of 2005. Construction is anticipated to begin in the fall of 2005, with completion slated for early summer 2006.

Dario Designs Incorporated, headquartered in Framingham, Massachusetts, is performing the architectural and engineering design for the expansion.
