CRUDE OIL
Oil Slides on Recession Fears - Oil prices slid about 2% to a 12-week low in volatile trade on Wednesday as investors grew more worried energy demand would take a hit in a potential global recession. Brent futures for September delivery fell $2.08, or 2.0%, to settle at $100.69 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil fell 97 cents, or 1.0%, to settle at $98.53. Both benchmarks closed at their lowest since April 11. (Reuters)
Resumption of Deliveries to Europe Boosts Venezuela's Oil Exports - The first Venezuelan crude oil cargoes sent to Europe in two years helped lift the OPEC nation's oil exports by 61% last month after a series of setbacks earlier in the year, tanker tracking data and documents from state-run PDVSA showed. In June, PDVSA and its joint ventures shipped an average of 630,500 barrels per day of crude oil and fuel, a 61% increase from the previous month and similar to the same month last year. (Reuters)
