NextEra Expects to Complete Illinois Wind Project in Six Months

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--NextEra Energy Resources LLC, a subsidiary of FPL Group Incorporated (NYSE:FPL) (Juno Beach, Florida), is racing full-speed-ahead to complete the 200-megawatt (MW) windfarm in Lee and DeKalb counties in Illinois by the end of the year.

NextEra Energy selected D.H. Blattner and Sons Incorporated (Avon, Minnesota) as the general contractor. Construction began in early July 2009. NextEra is having 133 General Electric (NYSE:GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut) 1.5sle model, 1.5-MW wind turbine/generators installed. The wind turbine/generators are expected to start arriving in September. Full commercial operations are targeted to begin by the end of the year. Once the windfarm is complete, NextEra expects to employ about 20 people to maintain and operate the windfarm.
