Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Northland Power Incorporated (Toronto, Ontario), has begun construction on the $145 million, 86-megawatt (MW) Tantallon Peaking Power Project, adjacent to the Tantallon Switching Station in the town of Tantallon, Saskatchewan.
Construction on the project began earlier this summer and is set to be ready for commercial operation by the fall of 2011. The project will consist of building a simple-cycle peaking station that will feature two 43-MW, natural gas-fired General Electric (NYSE:GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut) LM6000 combustion-turbine generators. When operational, the turbines will provide power when energy demands are at their highest, which is usually during the summer and winter months.
Aecon Industrial (Cambridge, Ontario), a subsidiary of Aecon Group Incorporated (Toronto), will provide the engineering, procurement, and construction services during the construction of the project.
