Researched by Industrial Info Resources India (Delhi, India)--India's state-owned power producer, NTPC Limited (BSE:532555) (New Delhi, India), is scouting for a vendor to construct a coal-handling plant (CHP) at its 1,600-megawatt (MW) Gadarwara Super Thermal Power Project, Stage I. The 3,200-MW Gadarwara project has been proposed to be developed in two stages, each comprising two 800-MW units, situated on about 805 hectares of land in several villages in the Gadarwara region of Madhya Pradesh.
As per the pre-conditions laid down by NTPC, to qualify for this contract, a bidder must have designed, constructed and commissioned at least one integrated, bulk material-handling plant of 1,000-ton-per-hour rated capacity or above, essentially comprising conveyers and crushers, with all associated structural steel and electrical work. The plant must have been in successful operation for at least two years prior to the date of the techno-commercial bid opening for the offered package.
Additionally, in terms of financial standards, the average annual turnover of the bidder in the preceding three financial years should not be less than $34 million, and net worth should not be less than 25% of the paid-up share capital. The bid documents will be available for sale until July 12, 2013. The last date of submission of bids for this package is August 12, 2013. The power project will be entitled to "deemed export benefits" on the purchase of goods and equipment, under India's mega-power policy.
The project will meet its coal requirement from the Talaipalli coal block, which is located in the North Karanpura Coalfield area. The water requirement for the proposed power plant has been estimated at 4,675 cubic meters per hour, which will be sourced from the Narmada River through a 30-kilomter long pipeline.
The 3,200-MW Gadarwara project has been proposed to be developed in two stages, comprising two 800-MW units each, over 805 hectares of land spread across the Gangai, Umaraiya, Mehrakheda, Chorbarheta, Dongergaon and Kudari villages in the Gadarwara region, in the Narsinghpur district of the state of Madhya Pradesh.
