Researched by Industrial Info Resources India (Delhi, India)--India's state-owned power producer NTPC Limited (BSE:532555) (New Delhi) is scouting for a vendor for Control & Instrumentation (C&I) and Instrumentation Cable packages for its 1,600-megawatt (MW) Gadarwara Super Thermal Power Project, Stage I. NTPC has floated a global tender for the C&I and cables package. The power major intends to finance this package through both external commercial borrowings and the company's internal resources.
According to NTPC, the scope of work for the contract would involve the design, engineering, manufacture, supply, inspection and testing at manufacturer's work including type testing, custom and port clearance, transportation to the site, fabrication, handling and storage of all equipment at the site with erection, testing, commissioning and successful completion of facilities. The selected Bidder will also be responsible for supply of necessary tools and tackles, maintenance of equipments and mandatory spares along with performance guarantee of complete C&I System and Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) for Distributed Digital Control Monitoring & Information System (DDCMIS).
In terms of financial standards, the average annual turnover of the bidder in the preceding three financial years should not be less than $2.03 million, with net worth not less than 25% of the paid-up share capital. The bid documents for the package will be available for sale until September 9, 2013. The last date of submission of bids for this package is September 30, 2013. The power project is entitled to "deemed export benefits" on the purchase of goods and equipment, under the mega-power policy of the government of India.
The project will meet its coal requirement from Talaipalli coal block, which is located in the North Karanpura Coalfield area. The water requirement for the proposed power plant has been estimated at 4,675 cubic meters per hour, which will be sourced from the Narmada River through a 30-kilomter long pipeline.
The 3,200-MW Gadarwara project has been proposed to be developed in two stages, comprising two 800-MW units each, over 805 hectares of land spread across the Gangai, Umaraiya, Mehrakheda, Chorbarheta, Dongergaon and Kudari villages in the Gadarwara region, in the Narsinghpur district of the state of Madhya Pradesh.
