Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Northwest Electric Power Design Institute (NWEPDI) (Xi'an, Shaanxi), a regional subsidiary of China Power Engineering Consultancy Corporation (CPECC) (Beijing), won the bid for the survey and engineering for Phase I construction of China Huadian Corporation's (Beijing) Wangquce Windfarm recently, according to an announcement of CPECC on April 18, 2011.
The proposed Wangquce Windfarm is about 50 kilometers south of downtown Jingbian County in Wangquce Town, Yulin City, in northwest China's Shaanxi Province. The windfarm has a control area of about 64 square kilometers. The project will be built and operated by Shaanxi Huadian Yulin Energy & Chemical Project Preparation Office, a subsidiary of Huadian Shanxi Energy Company Limited (Xi'an, Shaanxi), the regional subsidiary of China Huadian Corporation in Shaanxi. According to the planning, the windfarm will have a total installed capacity of 99 megawatts and will be built in two phases. In Phase I, 33 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 1.5 MW will be constructed.
Shaanxi is a province rich in wind power resources and its wind power resources are mainly concentrated in its north region. So far, there are many leading enterprises, including China Guodian Corporation (Beijing), China Huadian Corporation and Luneng Group (Jinan, Shandong), are engaged in the pre-stage preparations for wind power development in the region. As the largest survey and design enterprise in China's power sector, NWEPDI's traditional business is mainly engaged in the coal-fired power sector. However, due to environmental restrictions, the proportion of coal-fired power in the power market continues to decrease. NWEPDI is actively expanding new businesses other than coal-fired power.
"The winning of the bid for the survey and engineering of Wangquce Windfarm is another achievement of NWEPDI in the new energy market. It will be served as a reference to support NWEPDI's development in wind power sector," said CPECC in its announcement.
