Ocean Spray Starts Production at New Expanded Plant in Wisconsin

Reported by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Juice-drinks producer Ocean Spray Cranberries Incorporated (Lakeville-Middleboro, Massachusetts) has completed an expansion of a facility in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, doubling the facility's size to 440,000 square feet and making it the largest cranberry-processing plant in the world. One of the two added lines went online last month. The second line is expected to begin operating in March 2009 according to company officials. The expansion is expected to create 100 new jobs.

The $75 million investment has enabled the construction of a 125,000-square-foot building and the addition of two state-of-the-art sweetened dried cranberry production lines. When both lines become operational, production is expected to reach 30 million pounds of sweetened dried cranberries per year. The Dennis Group LLC (Springfield, Massachusetts) was selected as the design-build team for the project.
