Ongoing Maintenance Works on Steam Turbine at Lavera Refinery's Cogeneration Facility

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The cogeneration facility of the French Lavera Refinery, owned by Ineos Manufacturing France SAS (Lavera) and located in the Provence-Alpes-Cote-d'Azur region, is having major maintenance performed on one of its 11-megawatt (MW) steam turbines.

The facility, owned and operated by Lavera Energies, a joint venture formed by Air Liquide SA (EPA:AI) (Paris, France) and Dalkia (Paris), has had two cogeneration units in operation since 2000 and two steam turbines operational since 1972. The two units are equipped with two GE MS6001B gas turbines, each coupled with a heat recovery steam generator to produce steam for the refinery. Maintenance service for these units is provided under a long-term service agreement with the manufacturer of the equipment.

The older steam turbines, manufactured by Creusot-Loire and coupled with Jeumont-Schneider generators, have a capacity of 11 MW each. These units undergo major maintenance every eight years as well as unit revision during the summer for a period of about six to eight weeks. At present, one of the units is undergoing major maintenance until August, while works for the other unit are scheduled for 2015.
