Ontario Power’s Pickering Unit Offline Due to Unplanned Outage

The company estimates approximately seven days of outage time for the unit, and they are hoping to have it back online by this Sunday, December 10, 2006.

The station also has two other units currently in an outage. Unit 04 has a major turbine overhaul outage that started October 1, 2006. Officials are expecting two more weeks of maintenance and will hopefully have that unit returned later this month on December 17th. Unit 07 is also in a prolonged planned maintenance outage that began August 27, 2006. Officials are expecting this outage to last until December 20, 2006. Unit 07 is having a major turbine overhaul performed with emphasis on valve work.
