Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Pattern Energy's (NASDAQ:PEGI) (San Francisco, California) Logan's Gap wind power project in Texas recently began commercial operations. Pattern Energy acquired the project in December 2014. It is the company's fourth operational windfarm in Texas.
Logan's Gap Windfarm is located in Brown County, in the city of Blanket. It has 87 Siemens wind turbines, each with a 2.3-megawatt (MW) capacity. Siemens AG (NYSE:SI) (Munich, Germany) is on site for a short warranty period and will provide operations and maintenance services. It may extend a service agreement at the end of that period.
Pattern Energy's portfolio consists of more than 1.6 gigawatts (GW). Its revenue increased 32% between 2013 and 2014.
Wal-Mart Stores Incorporated (NYSE:WMT) (Bentonville, Arkansas) has signed a 10-year agreement with Pattern Energy to purchase power generated from Logan's Gap. Wal-Mart is entitled to about 58% of the power generated at the site. Wal-Mart has a goal to become fully powered by renewable energy.
