Portland General Electric Company (Portland, Oregon), a regulated utility subsidiary of Enron Corporation (OTC: ENRN.PK) (Houston, Texas) is in the process of upgrading ten of thirteen hydroelectric generating units at its 109 year old sixteen megawatt (MW) TW Sullivan Station at Willamette Falls in Clackamas County, West Linn, Oregon. The project is being performed in conjunction with a 30-year license renewal for the station, which was originally due to expire in December 2004. The station is unmanned, but is monitored 24 hours a day from the company's Faraday Station.

The TW Sullivan Station utilizes approximately 40 foot of head to supply the water pressure in order to drive the turbines. Two of the Units, #8 and #13, had previously been upgraded and Unit #9, an S Morgan Smith turbine, with a General Electric synchrony's generator, does not require an upgrade. The station is scheduled to have two units a year upgraded and have seven left to upgrade. The balance of units being upgraded were original Pelton variable pitch vertical Kaplan turbines and are being converted to Voith fixed pitch Kaplan turbines. The generators on these units are induction Siemens Westinghouse, which are being upgraded from 1.2 MW each to 1.4 MW each or roughly a 16% increase in capacity. The upgrades are scheduled to be completed in 2008.
