Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--A subsidiary of Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina) (Beijing) has completed the box-up of the steam turbine for Unit 1 at Chongqing Datang International Shizhu Power Generation Company Limited's (Chongqing) Shizhu coal-fired power plant, according to the construction firm.
PowerChina subsidiary Sichuan No.3 Electric Power Construction Company (SCPC3) (Chengdu, Sichuan) completed the operation on January 10, after 39 hours of continuous work. The procedure followed the erection of the rotor in late December.
The box-up procedure at the plant began on January 8, 2014.
Located in Xituo Town, in Shizhu Tujia Nationality Autonomous County, in central China's Chongqing City, the plant is the first coal-fired power project built by Datang International Power Generation Company Limited (SH.601991) (Beijing) in Chongqing, in a 70:30 joint venture with Chongqing Energy Investment Group.
International Shizhu plans to build two 350-megawatt (MW), supercritical, coal-fired units, for an initial investment of about $450 million. Also to be constructed are several pollution-control and monitoring devices; a high-efficiency, electrostatic dust-removing device; a flue gas desulfurization device; a nitrogen-oxide control device; and an online continuous emission monitoring system (CEMS). The boilers are supplied by Dongfang Electric Corporation (Chengdu, Sichuan), and the steam turbine generators by Harbin Electric Corporation (Harbin, Heilongjiang).
The project received final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission in December 2011. Both units are scheduled to begin operations in 2014. The project will be able to supply of about 3.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity to China Central Power Grid via 220-kilovolt transmission lines.
