Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The preliminary feasibility study report for the 2,000-megawatt (MW) Phase III expansion of the Huadian Luan Power Plant passed an examination by an expert panel, according to an announcement on March 6.
Phase III will include two 1,000-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units, with advanced technologies for secondary reheating and "close-to-zero" emissions. The project is expected to kick off by the end of 2015 and be operational before 2020. The project will be able to generate more than 10 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, which will meet an increased power demand in central China's Anhui province.
The plant is located in the Yuan Economic Development Zone of Luan City, in Anhui. It currently has two 135-MW, coal-fired units (Phase I), which were commissioned in 2005 and 2006 under Phase I. Two 660-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units (Phase II) are under construction, with plans to begin operations later this year.
The preliminary feasibility report for Phase III was approved on March 4 by the Development and Reform Commission of Anhui Province's expert panel, according to Anhui Electric Power Design Institute (AHEDI) (Hefei, Anhui), which prepared the report. AHEDI is subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (Beijing) and is responsible for the project's detailed design and related consultancy services.
The project is funded by Huadian Power International Corporation Limited (SH.600027) (Beijing), a listed flagship of China Huadian Corporation (Beijing).
