RHI Magnesita Announces Investments, an Industrial Info Market Brief

RHI Magnesita, a maker of refractory products and solutions, began 2020 by announcing the investment of 40 million euros ($45 million) to develop the Dolomite Resource Centre in Europe. The facility will process raw local dolomite into sintered dolomite for use in refractory products at Hochfilz, in the state of Tyrol, Austria.

Now, RHI has invested 50 million euros ($56.7 million) to modernize its Digital Flagship Plant in Radenthein, Austria. The state-of-the-art plant will be a central training hub for skilled workers. RHI plans to invest around 22 million euros ($25 million) for automation and process optimization. Through digitalization, RHI expects to produce more than 100,000 tons of refractories in Radenthein, which is double the current production capacity. Furthermore, 24.7 million euros ($28 million) are being invested for new infrastructure, which will include a high-performance tunnel kiln and a highly specialized shuttle kiln for customized products. The modernization and new construction is expected to be put into operation as of fall 2021.
