Russia's Togliattiazot Cuts Ammonia Production Due to Ukraine Conflict

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Despite record ammonia production in 2021, TogliattiAzot PJSC (Tolyatti, Russia) began to reduce output at its facility at the end of February. The company produced more than 3.05 million tons of ammonia last year, but is cutting output amid the war in Ukraine.

TogliattiAzot stopped production at four units, and switched three others to a reduced load.

TogliattiAzot also is suspending operations at an ammonia pipeline that runs through parts of Ukraine, out of concern for those living nearby. The company said in a press release it would continue to produce enough ammonia to allow for production of urea and urea-formaldehyde concentrate, and that it would ship ammonia to consumers by railway.
